MAI is involved with serveral of the nature gas pipeline design and construction projects with TECO People Gas throughout Florida. The projects range from 1 mile to 45 miles of natural gas pipeline in northeast Florida. The projects typically include obtaining permits from DOT, railroad companies, the county and city, submerged land easement, Army Corp of Engineers and Department of Environmental Protection. Provided construction observation, as built, certification and construction management.

The project includes approximately 10,000 sf of office complex, parking lot, landscape, and storm water treatment system. The storm water treatment system consists of an underground exfiltration retention system. Mai assisted the client with final design and permitting through St Johns County and City of St. Augustine.

All American Air Conditioning Parking Lot: All American Air Conditioning needed to add additional parking area to serve their fleet and customers. MAI provided design and the permit of the additional parking area with value engineering and saved construction cost utilizing pervious material. The engineering services included providing the complete construction plan, landscape, drainage plan, storm water calculation and permitting with City of St Augustine and St Johns River Water Management District.

MAI Engineering Services (MAI) provided engineering services such as developing plans permitting and construction management for a 2-acre site, including a proposed 20,000 SF building, parking lot, entrances, sidewalk, retention pond, bulkhead system, landscaping, gravity sewer system, oil/water separator, sand trap, fuel station and paving, grading, ditch stabilization, storm water, riprap erosion control, and drainage design.

MAI provided the design/build effort to construct and renovate the entrance at Marsh Creek subdivision, St Augustine, FL to improve the traffic flow and safety. Residents access using the designated travel lane and don't have to wait for traffic to clear. Project included installation of the additional travel lane, new sensor and automatic gate system, pavers, asphalt pavement, concrete curb and gutter and landscaping.

MAI designed and managed the construction of the new warehouse addition at Camp Blanding for the Department of Military Affairs. The new addition provides much needed additional air conditioned office space for the warehouse staff as well as additional space for the equipment distribution center. Project included approximately 3,000sf additional steel frame building, air conditioning, concrete and tile floor, concrete block wall, additional two bathrooms, two offices and a break room.

MAI installed the proposed wooden boardwalk system in Guanna Park for FDEP to provide an additional accessible walking trail that connects the existing trail system within the park. The project challenges were the presence of alligators, mosquitoes and rain during the construction. The project was successfully completed before schedule and with no change order.

The improvement includes new paver parking surfaces, entrance, curb and gutter system as well as a storm water management plan. MAI provided these engineering services as well as the construction drawing and storm water calculation to obtain construction a permit with the City of St Augustine.

MAI has been assisting the Department of Military Affairs in several engineering design project including parking lot design and warehouse addition to wash rack improvement from St Augustine to Camp Blanding, Starke. This project includes engineering drawings, construction plan, storm water design, drainage calculation, and permitting with City of St Augustine and St Johns River Water Management District.

This project includes extensive data collection and simulation of available flow for the downtown area in The City of St. Augustine. The area to be analyzed is the downtown historic area from King Street to Orange Street and from Cordova Street to Avenida Menendez Blvd. The fire flow simulation was conducted using Bentley WaterCAD V8i. WaterCAD's fire flow analysis capabilities were used to determine if the system can meet the fire flow demands while maintaining various pressure.

MAI Engineering Services provided engineering services to prepare construction plans, permits, and managing the construction to install the new trolley stop area on Avenida Menendez Blvd. MAI worked with Halback Design Group to incorporate the plans into the overall Colonial Spanish Quarter master plan. The design included additional roadway, landscape, curb & gutter, storm water and utilities systems adjustment. Mr. Mai obtained permits from the Florida Department of Transportation.

FDOT sidewalk projects: MAI was the design team for many of the FDOT sidewalk safe route design/build projects that were part of the stimulus funding from the federal, ARRA projects. MAI worked on projects in Gainesville, Okeechobee, Desoto, and St Augustine. The projects provide additional accessible safe route for schools and pedestrians. All projects were successfully completed in time and with no change order.

This is a drainage improvement project within the City of St Augustine. The project includes site assessment, drainage pattern study, site investigation with surveying and provides drainage calculation and alternative designs to convey the storm water and prevent flooding.

MAI played the integral role in the Halback Design Team for this project as the drainage and roadway engineering consultant. The project includes planning, study, and design for the transit system improvement within the major corridor of St Augustine. The project focused on safety, connecting visitors from different venues and the fort, better traffic flow, reducing conflict points, and enhancing the esthetic of the bay front area of the oldest city in America.

Mai provided the design/build effort to help the First United Methodist Church rebuild the existing parking lot to improve drainage. Project includes design and obtaining a permit from St Johns River Water Management District and City of St Augustine for the proposed storm water retention system as well as construction of the proposed storm water piping, inlets and ponds.

Mai provided the engineering services to obtain permitting from St Johns County for the addition of a warehouse and parking lot. The Project includes providing engineering drawing, calculations, and coordination with the permitting agency to obtain necessary permits for the construction of the additions.

MAI provided the engineering design for the office addition, renovation, and expansion for the several of the Florida Pest Control office/commercial complexes within Northeast Florida. The projects include providing engineering drawing, construction plan, landscape drawing, drainage plan, storm water calculation, and obtaining all necessary permits from local and state regulatory agencies. The projects are in St Augustine, Jacksonville, Lake City, Gainesville, Leesburg, and Palatka.

Marineland is currently undergoing major renovation as Georgia Aquarium, the new owner, refocuses and reinvests for the development to successfully bring the services to the public. Mai provided the design effort to help the Georgia Aquarium and their contractor tie all the telecommunication conduits together between the existing buildings. Project includes engineering design, drawing, and construction plan and obtain construction permit.
